Brown's Hotel and The London Library introduce Literary Lovers Dinner Package for Valentine's Day
January 2012 - Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel has partnered with The London Library and is offering lovers of literature and fine food the chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a unique experience in the heart of Mayfair. Brown’s Hotel opened in 1837 and has long been a favourite haunt for well known members of The London Library, which now holds more than one million books on 15 miles of open shelving - a paradise for bookish lovers.
Take this opportunity to enjoy a tour of The London Library followed by a romantic dinner for two in HIX Mayfair at Brown’s Hotel. The evening will begin at The London Library at 6.30pm on 14 February 2012, with a tour that will take you through the Library’s literary labyrinth via the romantic words of some of its famous members, with readings from such poets and authors as Tennyson, George Eliot, T. S. Eliot and from A.S. Byatt’s novel Possession – the plot of which centres around the discovery of secret letters by the character Roland Michell in the Library’s Reading Room.
Visitors will also explore the Science & Miscellaneous stacks to find the classification S:Love and hear stories of famous past members’ own colourful love lives. Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to see some of the fascinating, surprising and romantic treasures of the collections from across the centuries. Breathe in the scent of books, pore over the pages of some of the treasures and leave with a beautiful volume of love poems to enchant and inspire.
Following the tour of the Library, guests will be guided the short distance to Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel, a London Hotel with great literary heritage – Rudyard Kipling penned ‘The Jungle Book’ whilst staying at Brown’s Hotel and Agatha Christie based her classic, ‘At Bertram’s Hotel’ on Brown’s. Guests will be greeted with a glass of Champagne, followed by a delicious 3 course a la carte dinner for two created by Executive Chef, Lee Streeton.
The Package costs £160 for two people. The evening begins at 6.30pm on 14th February 2012 at the London Library and includes:
• A secret lovers tour of The London Library
