Michelin-starred Balmoral Chef celebrates the best of Scotland's larder in London
London, April 2011 - Jeff Bland, Executive Chef of The Balmoral’s Michelin-starred number one restaurant, is bringing a taste of Scotland to Britain’s capital next month when he pays a visit to HIX Mayfair at Brown’s Hotel in Mayfair, sister property to The Balmoral.
Celebrating Scotland’s high quality larder, Jeff Bland has created a sumptuous set menu which will run at HIX Mayfair from Monday 9th May to Sunday 15th May offering Londoners a week in which to taste the fine fayre Scotland has long been renowned for.
As spring moves into summer, what better time to showcase Scotland’s depth of flavour with dishes featuring dived West Coast scallops, Blairgowrie ox cheeks, smoked Shetland cod and new season Scottish asparagus. There will also be a selection of whisky cocktails from Glenmorangie as well as a unique after dinner tipple in the form of the new Glenmorangie Signet, whisky sipped over a single special ice stone sculpted with the iconic emblem of the Cadboll Stone and served with a beautifully rich William Curley chocolate.
Sharing a similar ethos, HIX at The Albermarle and The Balmoral’s number one are famous for celebrating the best of British food using only carefully sourced local seasonal ingredients. This is why number one is so proud to be bringing a taste of Scotland to Brown’s Hotel.
The Scottish Week menu has been designed by Jeff Bland to reflect the outstanding culinary experience on offer at The Balmoral’s fine dining restaurant on a daily basis. The Balmoral’s number one retained its coveted Michelin star for the 9th successive year under Jeff Bland’s leadership in January 2011.
Guests who dine at HIX Mayfair during Scottish Week have the chance to enter an exclusive competition to win two night’s accommodation at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, followed by two night’s accommodation at Glenmorangie House and Distillery in Tain in Scotland. This four night town and country break will give the lucky winners the chance to explore the traditional delights of beautiful Scotland.
