Roosevelt Romantic Retreats at Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel
Having opened their doors 1837 as London’s first ever hotel, Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel has the most romantic history and one that is closely linked to the Roosevelt family. It is here that Theodore Roosevelt stayed before his marriage to Edith Kermit Carow, which took place at St George’s Church in 1886 - a copy of the marriage certificate still hangs in the hotel today. In 1889 the original hotel was extended to include the St George’s Hotel on Albemarle Street (named after St George’s Church) and in 1905 Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt visited Brown’s on their honeymoon.
This luxurious hotel is still lovingly preparing their rooms and suites for couples celebrating their engagement, wedding, honeymoon and anniversaries and with this in mind they have created the following special ‘Roosevelt Romantic Retreats’ accommodation package:
- Overnight accommodation in a luxurious room or suite
- Upgrade on arrival
- Bottle of Champagne, fresh fruit and home-made chocolates in their room
- Full English breakfast
- Romantic turn-down with candles, rose petals and bath salts
- And as a gift to remember their stay, each couple will receive 2 monogrammed honeycomb bathrobes
- A tour of St George’s Church, which could be followed by their memorable Sunday Service
The package starts from an Executive King Room at £340 per night, excluding VAT and is available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights between now and the 31st December 2008, subject to availability. Additional nights can be booked from £245+VAT, room only.
Brown’s Hotel is also home to six outstanding private dining rooms, each boasting an abundance of natural daylight, high ceilings and antiques. These rooms include the Roosevelt Room which was the suite where the Roosevelt’s stayed, but has since been transformed in to one of London’s most exclusive private dining rooms. This luxurious room provides the ideal setting for a wedding celebration for up to 120 guests and the dedicated private dining team are on hand to tailor-make each event to the guest’s specific requirements. Mrs Franklin Roosevelt later commented on this suite in her autobiography, ‘The Lady of the White House’ saying “we were given the royal suite at Brown’s Hotel, with a sitting room so large that I could not find anything that I put down”.
